Country Research
Here are some suggestions on how to conduct effective counrtry research:
1. Follow the “How To” guide below.
2. Complete the “Country Research” doc from Ms. Douglas.
3. Start with the CIA World Factbook for statistics and a general overview of your country.
4. Use real Policy Speeches. These are a great way to find specific examples of your country’s position on an issue. Search for your country on the UN’s Record Website. You can also search for other speeches and documents on the UN’s Digital Library.
5. Check the U.S. Department of State‘s report on human rights in your country.
6. Follow current events in your country. Try articles from news outlets in your country that can be translated into English.
7. Look up your country’s Permanent Mission to the UN. You can contact them to ask questions or request a statement on an issue.
