Students recently started an interdisciplinary escape room project, blending physical science, English, History, and Branding and Marketing skills. A tenth-grade student walks us through what this process looks like:

To prepare, we were assigned to groups and practiced board-game escape rooms to see how puzzles and storylines work together. After studying assigned topics, students explored how to connect history concepts to develop a strong theme and plot. Working in small groups allowed classmates to share ideas, plan puzzle designs, and practice clear communication.
Once each group was assigned a main topic, we built prototype puzzles that showed physical science concepts, like the transfer of energy. English skills are being used to write storylines and clues, while history and marketing are there to make the theme realistic and engaging. The project brought together students’ creativity and problem-solving skills as they tested and refined their ideas. Classmates worked hard to balance design and storytelling, as well as science, to create an interactive learning experience. Through this process, students gained experience in collaboration, innovation, and applying knowledge from different subjects in one project.
